The new Amazon Security Lake service looks to centralize all of an organization’s security data from across a number of different sources, whether from the cloud or on-premise, in one place, in order to drill down precisely into security threats. Gmail is set to get a huge improvement to its search function that will actually work for more users, so long as you turn on the right settings. The email provider has long provided a search function, even offering specific filters and parameters to help its users find the right content in an overflowing inbox, but despite these advanced efforts don’t make use of the platform’s full capabilities. To this end, Gmail will now use machine learning to understand what you’re searching for. Meta has been hit with a €265 million data protection fine from the Irish Data Protection Commission over claims the firm let down its users' privacy. The privacy watchdog alleged that the Facebook and Instagram parent company had failed to protect the data of more than half a billion users, potentially leaving a huge number of those impacted at much greater risk of frauds like Identity theft further down the line.  The news comes after a security researcher revealed the data of over 533 million Facebook users from 106 countries had been leaked, of which around 32 million were from the US and 11 million were from the UK, which included phone numbers, birth dates, email addresses, and locations. Microsoft Teams is getting a significant upgrade to its accessibility tools that should make the video conferencing platform better for more users. In a Microsoft blog post , Accessibility Architect Chris Sano announced the creation of a “best-in-class experience for the deaf and hard of hearing (D/HH) community” on Teams. Cyber Monday is not always about the big-ticket items. You know what I mean: that 65-inch 4K TV for $499 , that King-sized mattress for $870 , or that Air Fryer for $54.99 . Over a thousand container images hosted on the popular database repository Docker Hub are malicious, putting users at risk of cyberattack, experts have warned. According to a report from Sysdig, the images contained nefarious assets such as cryptominers, backdoors, and DNS hijackers.  Container images are essentially templates for creating applications quickly and easily, without having to start from scratch when reusing certain features. Docker Hub allows users to upload and download these images to and from its public library. Types of malware The Docker Library Project reviews images and verifies those it deems to be trustworthy, but there are plenty that remain unverified. Sysdig automatically scanned a quarter of a million unverified Linux images, and found 1,652 to be hiding harmful elements.  Cryptomining was the most common kind of malicious implant, present in 608 of its scanned images. A post on a “well-known hacking community forum” claims almost half a billion WhatsApp records have been breached and are up for sale. The post, which multiple sources have confirmed is likely to be true, claims to be selling an up-to-date, 2022 database of 487 million mobile numbers used on WhatsApp, which contains data from 84 countries. This means that almost one-quarter of all WhatsApp's estimated two billion monthly active users are possible at risk. Industries across the world are seeing a "rebalancing" of the labor market as the surge of hirings caused by the pandemic begins to ease off, experts have warned.
